Back to the Future

back-to-futurePeople shop differently these days and after a decade at their showroom in Liverpool Road, Penwortham, Matthew Marsden Furniture has moved back to it’s roots; the workshop in Eccleston where they manufacture their furniture.

If you’re familiar with the high quality craftsmanship of this family-owned company, you’ll be delighted to know that it is business as usual.

“Because more customers were finding us on the internet and we get lots of referrals and repeat business, we no longer needed a prominent high street showroom. It was a sad day handing the keys back and we’d like to thank the friendly people of Penwortham for their support over the past 10 years,” said Susan Marsden.

From now on the showroom will be based at their workshops in Eccleston, where the company can trace its roots back to 1929. Here customers have the added attraction of being able to see furniture being created for their kitchen, bedroom, study or library.

“We’ve always kept the original workshops and if customers make an appointment they are welcome to walk around and see their furniture being made,” added Susan. “For example a customer has been in the workshops to see her kitchen taking shape. It is about half complete and she was delighted.”

Matthew Marsden’s return to concentrate on their Eccleston site is a reminder that there is no place like home.
