Introduction
A bold new chapter in our design story, the 1929 range is born from modern Scandinavian influence. Designed for those who appreciate clean lines and understated elegance, this collection offers a refined, contemporary aesthetic with a luxurious edge.
Bringing together innovative materials and finishes sourced from leading suppliers around the world, the 1929 range is crafted using our signature handmade techniques. Subtle lighting and varied textures are used throughout to create depth, contrast and visual interest, all while preserving the sleek, minimalist look.
The collection is anchored by three carefully curated design families: Tide, Strata and Forge. Chosen for their distinctive character and exceptional quality, these elements can be used individually or combined to create a completely new concept in kitchen design.
Forge
Raw Beauty. Refined Drama. Explore our carefully curated collection of Italian-designed surfaces, redefined through the lens of modern luxury, the clean lines of contemporary minimalism and the understated elegance of Scandinavian design.
These surfaces capture the depth and character of natural stone with striking realism, creating a bold and architectural focal point in any space.
Paired with clever lighting, these finishes reveal subtle shifts in texture and tone, creating a living surface that responds to its environment.
Combine with rich timber elements for a warm, organic aesthetic that evokes nature at its most refined. Or, for a bolder statement, contrast with our Classic range to craft a commanding centrepiece.
Whether understated or dramatic, these surfaces radiate a quiet, confident luxury.
Strata
Design that breathes warmth. Crafted from real wood, this collection showcases the quiet elegance and rich character of natural veneers. Each piece is thoughtfully selected and responsibly sourced, bringing authenticity and depth to contemporary spaces.
Each surface in our Strata collection is treated with a specialised oil system designed to preserve the natural texture and appearance of the timber.
Unlike conventional finishes, our advanced formula bonds directly to the wood’s surface fibres. The result is a durable, breathable finish that feels as authentic as it looks.
Pair with the soft matte texture of our Tide cabinet doors or create a striking focal point like a standalone island with our Classic furniture range.
Tide
A finish that feels as good as it looks. A beautiful selection of matte finishes, offering rich, nuanced colour and an exceptionally smooth, tactile surface. Designed to meet the demands of modern living, combining refined aesthetics with everyday durability.
Designed to elevate both look and feel, each finish is enhanced with advanced lacquer technology that resists fingerprints, repels bacteria and ensures lasting durability.
These finishes lend themselves beautifully to a range of design expressions, from clean handleless cabinetry to the subtle accent of satin or brushed brass pulls.
Their versatility pairs effortlessly with our Culbeck Brook Classic glass doors with extra narrow styles and rails. Complete the look with deep-stained cabinetry and concealed lighting for a modern, luxurious aesthetic.

Beyond the Kitchen: Whole House Design
“The biggest compliment we can be given is to be invited back into your home time and again. We love nothing more than extending our craft to new spaces and creating more bespoke designs. It’s a chance to let our talents flourish on your behalf” - Matthew Marsden, Head Designer & Founder
Our Story Often Begins in the Kitchen, but It Rarely Ends There
What starts as a conversation about cabinetry and layout often grows into something much bigger. Once clients see how considered design and beautiful craftsmanship can elevate one space, it’s only natural to start imagining the possibilities elsewhere. That’s how our work has found its way into boot rooms, bedrooms, libraries, dressing rooms and even entire homes.
Over the years, many of our long-standing client relationships have evolved in exactly this way, from one room to the next and sometimes, from one home to another. In fact, for some clients, we’ve become a trusted part of every house move, helping shape each new space into something personal.
While the Room May Change, Our Approach Remains the Same
Whether we’re designing a kitchen or a study, we use the same exacting craftsmanship, carefully sourced materials and thoughtful detailing. Practicality and elegance go hand-in-hand, always tailored to how you live and always designed to last.
Every space we create is unique, shaped by your needs, your taste and the character of your home. We take time to understand not just how a room looks but how it should feel and function. That might mean a quiet reading nook, a boot room built for family life or wardrobes designed around your morning routine.
Thinking Beyond the Kitchen?
Just like in the kitchen, our team manages every detail from the first sketches to the final installation. We’re hands-on, meticulous and genuinely passionate about creating something meaningful.
We’d love to help. Whether you’re planning one special room or looking to reimagine your whole home, get in touch to see how we can bring your vision to life.

The Aughton Project: Bespoke Kitchen and Media Wall
Here’s a look inside one of our latest multi-room projects, thoughtfully designed for a family home in Aughton. For this project, we created a bespoke kitchen, a hidden prep kitchen and a custom-built media wall in the adjoining living area.
A Calm, Contemporary Family Home with Considered Design
Our client wanted a space where they could entertain, unwind and enjoy everyday life as a family. A large central skylight brings an incredible amount of natural light into the space. With a neutral colour palette throughout, the light bounces softly off the walls and cabinetry, creating a calm, open atmosphere that feels bright even on a grey day.
Design Details That Make a Statement
A real focal point in this space is the dark navy kitchen island, cleverly introduced by our designers to add contrast. It works beautifully with the muted tones surrounding it, introducing a touch of drama without overpowering the room.
The stunning worktops are a crisp white quartz, Calacatta Gold, a timeless and popular pick that keeps the overall look of the kitchen clean and modern. These worktops are also a practical choice for family living as they’re extremely durable and easy to clean.
Premium Appliances and Practical Features
The kitchen is complete with industry-leading appliances from our trusted partner, Fisher & Paykel, ensuring top-tier performance and long-lasting quality.
One of our favourite features of this project is the hidden prep kitchen, tucked behind secret doors just off the main kitchen. This was a perfect addition to this family home as it keeps the main space clear and clutter-free during gatherings. The additional workspace adds functionality while maintaining the clean, open feel of the main kitchen.
Seamless Flow and Finishing Touches
A big part of this design is how seamlessly each space flows from one area to the next. The open plan layout and large glass patio doors create a true indoor outdoor living experience. Additionally, we continued the same soft tone of the kitchen through to the media wall in the living space. The bespoke media wall was specifically designed to house a large TV while offering plenty of concealed storage space.
Oak flooring runs throughout the space in a herringbone pattern, adding a subtle movement beneath the more minimal surfaces above. At Matthew Marsden Furniture, our designers always try to strike the perfect balance between visual interest and a classic finish that won’t date.

We’d like to give a special thanks to Ginger Interiors and Nucore Building Solutions for their support and collaboration on this project.
